“Pandang Dari Belakang,” is a symbol of my inability to convey words and express my emotions directly towards a person.

​

The idea of for this conceptual installation art piece, titled “Pandang Dari Belakang,” is the result, and culmination, of years of work on my photography series titled “Dari Belakang,” – a series of photos taken of peoples back.

​

As I progressed, I began to see elevating it from a mere photography idea, into a more conceptual art piece.

 

This progression happened as i continued taking photos of people from behind, slowly realizing that taking these photos actually revealed my characteristics. And that I realized that that was how I conveys my feelings towards a person, believing that I can just look at them from behind.

 

In my own words,

 

“I did this installation so maybe they can see how I see them from behind, but that’s up to the audience.”
